We at Heart of the Wild believe every animal and plant has a vital and significant role to play on our planet. That each is inextricably connected, sharing roots as they grow…together. Our steadfast commitment is to honor each animal resident by providing them with unwavering, compassionate care and respect to ensure each thrives in our care.
ANIMAL RESIDENTS – WHERE THEY COME FROM
We will provide loving, compassionate, forever homes to wild animals who are most in need. Our animal residents will come from places where they are no longer “wanted”, have been trafficked, abused, slated for culling or are an endangered species in need of special attention.
SPACIOUS HABITATS
Our animal residents will live in species appropriate, expansive, state-of-the-art habitats designed to foster optimal health. These large spaces will encourage natural behaviors and give each individual enough room to roam, improving their overall health and eliminating overcrowding issues often seen in private animal “collections” and zoos.
ANIMALS FIRST
As not a single animal living at the sanctuary will have knocked on our gate and asked to be given shelter. Becuase of this fact, we firmly believe we have a responsibility to do what is best for them – not what is easiest for us! The needs of the wild residents will always take precedence and they will never be “used” for the amusement of visitors.
COMPASSIONATE CARE
All animal residents will be treated with compassion, respect and consideration for their physical health and mental well being. Each challenge encountered by our expert care givers will be treated with love and compassion and never thought of as a burden or inconvenience. No need will be too small or too great for our caring staff.
HOLISTIC APPROACH
Animal’s are not just “things”. They have minds, feelings, reactions, responses, families and social groups. At Heart of the Wild – we believe it is critically important to make sure they have everything they need in all of these areas in order to thrive – and heal from any past traumas they encountered in their previous home. Because mind – body – spirit…applies to animals too!
